Hi Ashby,

I can tell you from previous years that there have been a few folks to do the entire 16.5 - none that I witnessed, but I do remember a few folks in Wisconsin 2007 (Synergy in Sheboygan) and somewhere else I cannot remember right now. There are a few folks this year too.. I know several of the folks out of the Forward Motion Racing Club in San Fran., California are going the full 16.5 this time. Be careful, drink and eat plenty, and pace yourself. Definately let me know how it turns out.

Is anyone having a Ride a Thon for the entire 16.5 hours? Right now I have several participants (Including me) who are going to do the entire thing. I'm curious how others are handling that: start time, stop time, food, etc. I'd also love to know if there's anyone out there who has been on a stationary bike for 16.5 hours, and how it went. Thanks and Happy Holidays.

I wanted to you all know that I've been trying to stop by our many outdoors type stores in the area, as I've found that many of the folks that work at these shops are really onboard with activities like this and of course many are cyclists. One discovery I made today was our Patagonia store. While they cannot offer funds to help sponsor the event, they said if you write a letter to them identifying the 501c3 you are working on behalf of they may be able to donate some of their merchandise to the event. I'm planning on doing so and if I get anything, using it either as a raffle to help raise additional funds or as a door prize of some sort.

You may want to try your local patagonia stores as well. I hope some of you found this helpful.

Our local ALS society is 110 percent on board, we (my family) has a series of ALS fundraising events that we've created, which includes the cycle for ALS...and our soceity is trying to make us "official" in the sense that we are connected to them, as they realize the money we bring in....it is sad that some societies are too self serving..and you are right, the ultimate goal is to not have ANY ALS Societies needed....:) keep fighting the good fight everyone:)

Hi Adrienne,

On your event page you can add a comment after you are logged in. You should be able to click on the "upload a file" link in the comment box (looks like a doc image on the top right of the comment box tool bar). From there you should be able to upload a document file (excel table, or word doc). That will place alink on your event page where you can instruct people to click on the link to pull up the file to sign-up.

Feel free to contact me if you need additional info.

has anyone posted a sign up sheet to their veloist event page? I'm not seeing where that can be posted and saved for each person to sign up....

No specific experience here, but the more stories like this I hear, the more I think many of these organizations are more worried about credit and their name than the actual reason they exist. Someone should remind them that their ultimate success will be making it so they don't need to exist :)

I talked with the local chapter of the ALS Association today. They were very nice but seemed unwilling to help promote or provide volunteers for our event. They were worried about depleting their volunteer pool or confusing people by making them think the money was going to them and not us or vice versa. Has anyone done any work with with their local ALS Association? If so, I'd love to talk to you and see how you worked it out. Thanks, Ashby

The $10 registrtaion fee is for the Dallas Texas event only. We have asked Active to fix this issue and to take this off all the other event pages. Sorry about the confusion.
