I toured this past summer in the Finger lakes with my Giro, pulling a Wike cargo trailer with full camping gear. Fun, but those hills! I could have used a 26 tooth small ring for sure. It was good on the recumbent though, as the body doesn't hurt as much as on an diamond frame touring bike. I know, I've toured on both. The heads up posture is nice. I used my 26"/20" wheels with good results. This combo doesn't put my feet up to high, and allows me a nice touring position on the bike. Pulling the trailer was great - it has 20" wheels as well and it pulled and tracked beautifully. I was happy with my choices.
Ride on and see the world!

I'm in! Bacchetta Giro TT with 20 and 24 inch front wheels. Touring and mock high racer!
Love the bent bliss!
DF's hurt...It took me 37 years to discover that there is an option! A good one too. I still ride both, but for the long haul the Giro is king.
Really though, I tell everyone that riding (anything) is the primary focus. I don't care if it's a unicycle, it's not a car!!
