Ride Inside

We all do it, we all suffer inside to stay fit in the off season. Now you don't have to be alone. This is where we can all suffer together. And maybe, just maybe it will be a little better with some company.

The great icon shot for the group is from David Vandepol, who submitted it for the Sufferfest's Bike Torture Chamber contest which is here: The Sufferfest

Well Mike, I'm glad you took directions from the European headquarters. hope to be joining you soon on a real bike, somewhere in the streets. For now, there's just the trainer.

I just needed to get outside so bad I put the trainer in the front yard and soaked up some rays. Where is the spring?

Tour de This, Tour de That--nothing is as good to ride to inside as "Breaking Away" always a good ride inside, a classic every time I watch it.

Indoor or outdoor, that's the question...

1/01/10. 100 miles indoors. Now I can relax on Sunday...no goals, 2-3 hours, watching Clapton's 2007 Guitar Festival dvd.

Then you know what I say? GO FOR IT! Have a good workout. My orthopod just told me I may have torn my left medial meniscus. Yippee!

One of the reasons indoor cycling comes easily to me is the schedule I write out. It's really no different than a road ride planned weeks ahead of time, like a L. Geneva or Burlington ride. You know it's going to be long and hard at times. As the day approaches, the mental approach sets in, and I can treat it as if I was actually doing a long outdoor ride. For instance, I've known for a month that I'm doing an indoor century this Sunday, and a 12 hour between Jan. 29 and Feb. 2. As Yogi Berra said, 90% of it is half mental.

I am not questioning Daryl's "work" ethic or his (your) training methods. Merely commenting. I wish him (Daryl) the best results and rewards, possible.

Stu, Mike, et al....Indoor training is an acquired taste, and sometimes a necessary evil. In this case, I have a goal. I never question others' training methods and don't care if mine are questioned. However, with a race coming up in about 7 weeks, indoor endurance training is a very good friend right now, and without a doubt, it is definitely working.
