I've been riding a step-through (formerly "girl's bike") for quite some time on long tours. I'm not sure I can compare the stability. I can say that I find it far more comfortable and reliable for getting on and off frequently (which I do!) and that's why I switched to it.

Bob, how do you like the step-through frame for long rides? I've never tried one before. It seems that it wouldn't have the stability of a traditional diamond frame.

Sounds like you had a busy year. Quite a list of adventures there. Very nice!

Just finished a credit card tour of PA and NY. 11 days, 922 miles and 65,000 ft of climbing. I carried 15 pounds of gear in two small panniers and a handlebar bag. I am hooked. Have to rethink my gear list before the next time out. Perhaps more wool clothing and coolmax

I could use some warmth and sun! It is cool, could snow and will rain (which we need to clear out the volcanic ash from Mt. Redoubt!). I am riding home from work today and plan on scoping out the Bike for Women race course this weekend. have a great trip!

Ahh...the zen of bike touring. Aggie Blue Bikes is about to embark on a bike tour of our own in May up to Idaho for a day of soaking in the hot springs. Not a huge tour but a nice one.

Touring is what I want to do more than anything. I now have the bike and the gear and this is the year to practice and to get the legs into great shape. Next year will be Italy! Whoopeee! I will do the 2 day Fireweed 300K tour this year and load my bike with basic gear, just to ger the feel. Can't wait...
