This is an older blog post, but it is still very relevant today. I recently read a book called "Shop Class as Soulcraft" that talks about the demise and disappearance of the skilled trades from American society and how we - as a society - would be s…

Lukas, it is too bad you left bike polo when you did. Maybe if you are lucky I will tell you what happened when you were gone.

Team IMBA

The Mooseknuckler Alliance will be participating in the 24 hours in Old Pueblo as part of Team IMBA. This is our second year riding this event. We feel that trails are our biggest asset and feel it is our duty to help maintain and build trails. Team IMBA allows us to raise money for the organization and do it while riding, which is what it is all about.

We invite everyone to donate to Team IMBA. Anyone giving $50 or more will be given a membership or an extension of their current membership.… Continue

Night Ride up Green Canyon

The Alliance was out in force last night with good reason. The weather took a turn for the warmer yesterday and the moon was full. Five of us total headed up Green Canyon last night for a most memorable ride.

Erik, Eric (also known as Sunshine), I-dog, Justin (new to the Alliance) and I all met in the parking lot around 7:30. Things felt great and after what seemed like an eternity of waiting for me to get my shit tog… Continue

Pedipolo Report

Last night, ah, what a night. The air was crisp, the stars were bright and love was in the air.

It’s been quite a while since I’ve played a little polo. LP has been bugging me for quite some time to come and pedal in circles with him, so I decided that it was time. I sallied on the night ride and went for the serious work out, pedipolo.

As always, getting the game started can be a bit of a chore. It seems no one wants to play. People ride in circles, hit the ball, scratch, you know the regular… Continue

Sunday Ride Report

Justin and I got out Sunday for a nice ride, just in time for the rain.

If you didn’t notice the storm move up and over the Wellsvilles before it danced across the valley, you missed out on a spectacular display. This dancing, drenching storm happened to rock Green Canyon at exactly the time when we were riding it.

I woke up around noon to a cloudy sky that was broken up by brilliant spots of sun. I figured the storm had passed and that I should get a ride in. I had a few things to do so I pla… Continue

A Wrench's Manifesto

I’m a wrench.

Not literally, I wrench on bikes.

I’m blue collar, I don’t make a lot of money and there is little respect for what I do.

But I love what I do.

It’s days like today that are part of a reoccurring epiphany in my life. I have consistently taken less money so that I can have a job that I enjoy. It is my plan to be a starving journalist and wrench for the rest of my life. And that’s it. I do what I am and it makes me happy.

I came to work today knowing I would be the only one here… Continue
