mag trainer noise

Dear guy, my answer is you throw the trainer out the window and go outside and start riding. Unless of course you live in Chicago where we just got buried with 10 inches of snow on the first day of... Continue

Snow Riding

Frank, I ride in the snow. But mostly I fall in the snow. Two crashes this winter on the trails and the frozen tundra isn't very soft.

Recent Enlightenment.

After six months of careful study I have figured out why my wife, who claims to be smarter than me, really is. I have been religiously studying all of the women’s magazines that come into my house and comparing them with my usual reading material and have concluded that women really do know more things than most men. Well me anyway. While my knowledge is deep it is not vast. It extends to understanding the proper layering system to stay warm on cold rides. Who Cipo is and where he gets his dent… Continue

Great News for Illinois Cyclists

ILLINOIS GOV SIGNS 3-FOOT PASSING BILL INTO LAW Motorists in Illinois must pass bicyclists with at least three feet of room thanks to Gov. Blagojevich's signature on Senate Bill 80 yesterday. This measure was supported by the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation http://www.biketraffic.org/ and led by our partner organization, the League of Illinois Bicyclists. It's a significant victory for bicycling statewide. The law, effective immediately, amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to also provide that bi… Continue

Missed cue.

About two hours into the 90-minute ride I planned I realized I had missed a turn. Now, I always work from cue sheets and carry a map of the area when I go out on a new ride but that didn’t seem to help me here. You see I never put the distances on the cue sheets. I just look for the street signs. It works most of the time. The problem was my turn was marked Main Street on the west side of the road and not marked on the east as I rode north. I was looking for an east road. When I looked back lat… Continue

Hair pants.

There is absolutely no good reason in the world for me to shave my legs. But I have to. Every year around this time I start trying to get my wife to understand my desire to put blade to skin. She can’t imagine why I’d ever want to shave. She of course has to but I have a choice, so she thinks. Fitting in is human nature we all want to belong. I just happen to ride bikes with a bunch of men that shave their legs. So by all the standards of being human I need to shave mine. It’s that simple. It… Continue

Because the guy in third got 2nd in his age group & 6th overall. There were about 180+ racers. It was my best race of the year. I couldn't of done it without the help of Capt. Slade.

Hey Mike - Sorry that the weather is chilly there - today it was 103 at my house. Not a great day to be out riding, either. I put a couple hours in this morning, but by 9am it was already in the 90's! Hopefully it will cool down a bit here to get me ready for the cold mornings in the Rockies! I'll send some of my friends to the Veloist site...

Hey Mike - I found this site through my buddy, Dan Katz. We grew up together out there and I moved to LA about 15 years ago. I rode Ride the Rockies with Dan, Harvey and Jay 2 years ago, and we will return this year. In LA, I live near Griffith Park and there are good rides around here, but only 20 milers. If I drive a half hour towards Malibu, there is some really good riding up there. Canyons and long climbs, as well as endless ocean front miles on PCH. Riding is harder around here, but there are some real jewels to ride. Have you www.mapmyride.com?

I just watched the trailer for the R2R - it is great. It is truly one of my favorite races - someday I would love to ride the pave myself and watch the race in person (having some of that Belgian beer too).
Let me know more about release dates etc.
Hope to see you out on the road soon!

Hey Mike,
Thanks for the welcome. I need to get my hands on a 56cm road bike for my ALS ride in July. Is the Veloist a good place to find one?

Thanks,

Thanks for the welcome :). The site looks great, nice work!!! I would only make one small suggestion. You have a lot of free space on the right side of the page, perhaps that's a good place to list the forums, or at least the 10 most recent ones - might lead to increase in participation.
