The Alliance was out in force last night with good reason. The weather took a turn for the warmer yesterday and the moon was full. Five of us total headed up
Green Canyon last night for a most memorable ride.
Erik, Eric (also known as Sunshine), I-dog, Justin (new to the Alliance) and I all met in the parking lot around 7:30. Things felt great and after what seemed like an eternity of waiting for me to get my shit together, we headed up the trail. The bottom was nice and dry. The Eric/k’s headed out strong. I was sure that if their pace held I would have to consider the ride one of the hardest and shortest death marches I have ever been on. Luckily things slowed down a bit after the first section of singletrack. Either that or I just warmed up so I didn’t feel so slow.
At the end of the first section of singletrack, Justin decided that we were too slow for him and we didn’t see him again until we got to the top of the trail.
The rest of us enjoyed a nice pace to the top. About half way up we started to see patches of snow and the trail got a little slick. I thought it was perfect practice for Eric, who is our cyclocross hero.
Once at the top things were nice, but sitting around didn’t feel too great seeing that the Suunto read 41 degrees and we were all sweaty from the ride up. We headed down for a fast paced hooping fun time.
We are planning on doing it again Thursday night. Meet at the parking lot of Green Canyon around 7:30 and we’ll have a great time.
Ride more.
