Snow Riding

Anyone riding in the snow? I am uploading a picture of my mountain bike, outfitted for the snow with 2.5" tires and Climbmitts (those things on the handle bars) which allow me to ride with a thin glove so I can control shifting and braking better. This rig works best on packed snow or fresh snow less than 4" deep. I don't have studded tires (yet), but so far I haven't needed them.

Frank, I ride in the snow. But mostly I fall in the snow. Two crashes this winter on the trails and the frozen tundra isn't very soft.

I got caught out in the snow a couple of times this winter. Fortunately I arrived home before it started to stick. My road bike has 28 mm tires with very little tread. I've never seen those Climbmitts around here (Seattle). Looks like your hands would stay plenty warm.

This is really cool. We are always so sad when we have to put our bikes away for the winter. What kind of trails to you ride on? We'd love to try this but I'm not sure where else to ride but snowmobile trails and that seems a little risky. It's also hard to find the time since we're usually skiing in the winter. How much did you invest in "winterizing" your bike?
