Now we have finished two Alps' stages, the field is thinning.
The favorites are running out of time. The gaps in the leaders and
the future winners are growing. So who do you see still as a favorite
for the overall after 1 week of racing?
Saddest Tour week in 30+ years. Sorry for Vino, and now Rassmussen. can anyone say "Witch Hunt!"
What would have solved this if Chris Proudomme, ran a contract for all riders and teams to issue
a contract, stating any rider, doping or found to be doping prior to start in early June, would be fined
and team would be kicked out of comptiton,if any rider was found to fail, a drung exam of doping test,he would not be able to race or enter any further bike races, ever again on French soil.
What say you?
Has to be Valverde. He has the TT, climbing and sprint skills to go all the way. Rasmussen may have improved his TT skills, but its unlikely they will be enough to hold off better all rounders. If Kloeden had not had to help Vino on Saturday, he may have had a beter chance, but he may end up rueing the minute he gave up on the way to Tignes. Levi is over hyped. Would be good to see Contador get to Podium, but I do not know if he will be strong enough in TT
Superb effort by Rasmussen today on the TT. He's got a lot of work left, but I've got to go with him at this point. It'd be almost too ridiculous of a story if Vino wins with all the stitches, but he looked good today. To the Pyrenees...
Alberto Contador was awesome today in the Pyrenees. You can't beat Rasmussen except in the time trail.
So Cadel still may be the man. 2 more days in the Pyrenees, and one time trail to go. After the rest day we should see the final top 5 not change. All coming down to the race of truth.Col De Peyresourde tomorrow will
change the leaders minds on who is the best climber? its worse then today's stage. Steeper!
What do you say?
I think Vino looks good, I don't know what happened yet today. But if I were "King" for a day I'd have Levi L. pull Contador up the mountains, he's a much better bet and most likely less spoiled. Not happy with the Levi right now.
I'm glad I didn't guess at the beginning. All of my choices are being fired or disqualified.
The Rasmussen firing is utterly depressing. The Cofidis team all going away is almost as much. Vino is the worst.
The winner? The only one left standing after all of this. The losers? All of us who love this sport lose in the short run because public perception of this second year of tainted TdF is going to be bad. :(
