Steve, thanks for responding to my note but next time hit the link that sends you to my page or you'll just end up talking to yourself and wonder why no one writes back. I make it a habit to check back on new peoples pages, it's a common mistake. Hope to hear more about your travels. Ride safe. Mike
I just stumbled across your site. I forget where I found the link to it. We do have a club up here. It's the Green Mountain Bike Club, thegmbc.com. It's a laid-back group, primarily racers and day-tourists. Pretty tame compared to clubs in more populated areas, but a good group of folks. There are a lot of riders here for the size of the population, especially considering the general lack of good roads, the climate and the terrain. I've been riding road bikes for almost 40 years and worked many years in the bike biz, but that was long ago. Today, I commute whenever I can (85 miles in the last two days), ride 40-200 mile day rides, and pilot a tandem whenever the opportunity presents itself. I maintain a couple of bike-related websites (well, sort of maintain); vtbuds.com and stevebarner.com. I also occasionally post details of some memorable rides at sbarner.blogspot.com. I have a 2-year old Klein and a 3-yr old Bianchi Volpe, but the rest of my 30 or so bikes are pretty much all classics, mostly from the 70s and 80s.
Steve, welcome to The Veloist. Glad you could join us if you have any questions just ask and I'll try to help. How did you find us up there in Vermont? Do you ride with a club? Have your friends join and start your own group. Enjoy the site. Ride safe. Mike
