I'm tired of the negative publicity the Tour de France is bringing to our beautiful sport. Cycling gets three solid weeks of coverage a year, and this is how these guys decide to publize the sport. Is there that much pressure to perform from sposors that busting your ass day in and day out is not enough? Should someone be looking at the sponsors to relent a bit? Figured a good place to start would be my triathlon yesterday, no? And since it's a cycling site, I'll focus on the bike ride!
The ride portion was a 42km loop all over Boulder. The gem of the ride was Olde Stage, or Lee Hill Road. This is a 15% grade over 2/3 of a mile, and is just brutal. It's not an incredibly tough hill to just jump out of the saddle on and stomp, but when you have a 10K looming, you want to conserve. I just sat in the saddle and spun like hell. The hill is very To…
