Las Vegas, not my favorite town until now. I flew in late on Tuesday night, slept a few hours and then lined up with 20,000 bike industry guys for the opening of Interbike 2008. I was not disappointed. I must have walked ten miles on Wednesday looking at all the booths. Everyone and anyone in the industry was there. I even saw Tinker J (he looked really old and craggy). I should be dead right now.

I should have died an hour ago. I should be laying in a box someplace and my wife and family would be in shock. Saying stupid things like "at least he died doing what he loved." But I'm not, and it's because I wear a helmet. Not sometimes but all the time. A Giro Atmos helmet that saved my life. This is a great day. Recent Enlightenment.

After six months of careful study I have figured out why my wife, who claims to be smarter than me, really is. I have been religiously studying all of the women’s magazines that come into my house and comparing them with my usual reading material and have concluded that women really do know more things than most men. Great News for Illinois Cyclists

ILLINOIS GOV SIGNS 3-FOOT PASSING BILL INTO LAW Motorists in Illinois must pass bicyclists with at least three feet of room thanks to Gov. Blagojevich's signature on Senate Bill 80 yesterday. This measure was supported by the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation http://www.biketraffic.org/ and led by our partner organization, the League of Illinois Bicyclists. No Mike, I would have to say you are wrong on that note. We are not all mountain bike riders. Most of us are road cyclist with the exception of a few who enjoy both.

Mike, I met you on RAGBRAI this summer. I told you a story about riding through a torrential rainstorm with 50mph wind gusts and horizontal rain that I thought was going to turn into a tornado. This was on the last day of the Tour of the Mississippi River Valley ride. About 20 of us all jumped off our bikes and dove for cover. We had been riding in the rain for most of the day and we might as well have been swimming in our cycling gear. I'm on the ground, in a ditch hoping that things don't get any worse when the guy next to me very gingerly pulls out a little yellow packet and unfolds it to reveal a rain jacket. I looked at him and said "Isn't it a little late for that..."

Hi Mike, I met you through Bob Lindner (who I went to h.s. with many moons ago in Redding, Ct) I've been riding for a few thousnad miles with 3 centuries under my belt (since turning 50 last Sept) :-) I've been riding to work lately putting about 70 miles on in 4 days. I have not done RAGBRAI but hope 1 day...thanks for the evite to this website ;-)

I ride a road bike. I am now on a Schwinn Peloton. I used to ride a Felt F75 but it was destroyed while on the back of my car. I got rear-ended by a guy and the bike took the brunt of the blow. I was not hurt. The bike was totaled.
I don't remember how I found the site. I was thinking it was through cyclelicio.us but who knows...
