LEJOG 2008

Lands End to John 'O' Groats 2008 Tickets have been purchased - overnight sleeper to Penzance (about 10 miles from Land's End) with cycle reservation for Friday 20th June. We'll start on the Saturday morning... Just got to chase Mercian for the new set of wheels - and the proper training has to begin soon (although we hope to be cycling through Normandy this weekend). The ball starts rolling here...

A great weekend cycling in Northern France - Dover Claias ferry, then east to Bergues and south to Cassel and Aire Sur La Lys and then north west to St Omer and back to Calais - about 110miles in all.
All great preperation for LEJOG.

This is the BIG one... 1000 miles. 20 days. 50 miles per day, but carrying everything - tent, sleeping bags, primus stove, food, clothes etc. about 70/80 liters each - totally self sufficient. Weather should be good minus the summer floods and bad weather in Scotland!...
we're doing it beacuse we want to (if this goes well, the world is our oyster) and raising money for charity along the way www.justgiving.com/theoanddaisy
Louis is into the track bike -'la mode' in London. They look good, but most a fair waether cyclists and there's not a single bead of sweat in sight. All credit though, they are beautiful bikes.

How long will this take? I signed up for the Ragbrai, a ride across Iowa in July, 7 days, 70-80 a day (miles). In the heat of summer. Mad.
Saw Louis bikes last week.
Good luck.

Theo,
Welcome aboard. Any suggestions about how to make The Veloist a better site, one you would want to visit often, gratefully considered. Send pictures, stories, be the London correspondent, whatever. Good to see you, even a little torn and tattered.
